HGI has been providing battery additives to Chinese manufacturers since 1998. In 2009 HGI expanded our Malaysian facility to better serve the Chinese market. In 2015 HGI completed their state-of-the-art Lead Acid Battery Laboratory at 3100 Michigan Street. This facility is the center for ongoing development of advanced battery & energy storage chemistry.

Battery Expander

Expander is a specialty additive  to  a battery’s negative active material to improve capacity, cold cranking performance, cycle life, and charge acceptance. Hammond offers over 120 expander formulations tailored for  specific applications:

Tetrabasic Lead Sulfate

Hammond's tetrabasic lead sulfate (TTBLS), SureCure®, is added to a battery’s the positive active material where it acts as “seed crystals” to promote uniform TTBLS during paste mixing and plate curing. More uniform TTBLS results in stronger positive plates and increased cycle life. SureCure® allows for lower paste density and reduced material cost.

Battery Oxide

Battery Oxide is an essential building block of a battery. Hammond’s Oxide is specially processed for automotive or industrial applications. It is designed to enable high cranking power, excellent reserve capacity, and long life.  Battery Grade Red Lead Red Lead is commonly used in the positive plate to improve formation and initial capacity. Hammond offers red lead in various percentages as determined by the customer’s application.Product Resources

 

Electrolyte Additives

Sodium sulfate may be added to the electrolyte in AGM batteries to improve rechargeability after a deep discharge. Hammond offers high-purity sodium sulfate in both powdered and tablet forms.
