Hammond Lead Products (HLP) has remained a leading manufacturer of specialty lead chemicals and inorganic oxides for over 75 years. HLP's traditional business of supplying the automotive and industrial lead-acid battery market with litharge and lead oxide products has evolved over the years as a result of global regulatory activity with respect to lead. Through this transition, the company has focused its efforts on responsible actions with regard to the safe handling of lead-based products and working with industry to promote the recycle and re-use of lead in battery applications.
Within the battery market, Hammond has provided technology leadership through its development and manufacture of battery expanders which improve overall battery life and enhance cold-cranking power capabilities. Hammond has also developed special non-organic chemistry for calcium batteries used in communication, solar power and emergency lighting applications.
For glass and ceramics, Hammond Lead manufactures a variety of inorganic oxides for applications that include lighting, television glass, electronic components and other commercial glass and ceramic applications. Special products have been developed to address individual specific customer needs in areas such as fiber optics and optical glasses. As the markets and uses for lead-based products have declined, Hammond Lead and has responded by diversifying into many non-lead chemistries over the last 15-20 years. These new non-lead products are used in a variety of market applications including architecture, appliance, building and construction, specialty electronics, wire & cable and rubber products. They also include manufacturing of specialty pigment dispersions and polymer extrusion as intermediates.
HALOX has recently added a new family of additive technologies with the addition of adhesion promoter and coupling agent technology. This new family of products significantly expands both the range of product applications served by HALOX and also adds new market applications to those which HALOX can provide solutions.
HALOX’s new family of adhesion promoters address surface chemistry issues providing an improved bond between various substrates and the particular resin system being used. Our Coupling agents improve compatibility and dispersion of pigments and fillers in various polymer systems creating a chemical linkage between the two.
